Using Templates
-
Templates
save time.
In a typical
day at the
office you
may create
many
letters,
mailing
labels,
memos, etc.
Do you send
letters that
have the
same content
to several
people? Do
you want
professional
looking
documents
but don't
have much
time to
create them?
Did you know
Microsoft
Word has a
great
feature to
make these
processes
easier?
Using the
“TEMPLATES
AND WIZARD”
feature in
Word makes
your work
easier.
-
Templates
come in all
shapes and
sizes.
Many kinds
of documents
are
available.
You can
create legal
pleadings,
memos,
letters,
faxes,
reports,
theses,
directories,
newsletters,
manuals,
brochures,
calendars,
Web pages,
time sheets,
agendas,
résumés,
purchase
orders, and
invoices.
-
You can find
these gems
on the
toolbar.
Choose
'File' then
'New'. This
opens a
dialogue box
that has
'Tabs'
labeled with
the
different
kinds of
documents.
Within each
tab there is
a selection
of either a
template
with a
certain
style or a
Wizard in
which you
can
customize a
template.
Some have
both!
-
Templates
are easy to
use.
You can
start with a
style
already
created --
choose from
Elegant,
Contemporary,
or
Professional.
Double click
on the style
you want and
open the
document
then fill in
your
information.
-
Design your
own.
Perhaps you
don't like
the pre-made
styles, and
then the
'Wizard'
option may
be what you
are looking
for. To use
the Wizards,
you double
click on the
wizard icon
for the
document you
want to use.
It will
bring up a
box that
will walk
you through
the steps
and styles
available
for creating
the document
of your
choice, with
your custom
information.
Once you
have
finished
customizing
your
document you
fill in your
information
and print!
Professional
documents
without a
lot of fuss!
-
Install more
options.
When you
installed
Microsoft
Word, some
wizards and
templates
were
installed
through
typical
setup. You
can install
more through
Custom
setup, and
some are
available in
the ValuPack
C-Rom or on
the
Microsoft
Website.
To search for
available
templates or
wizards, do one
of the
following:
-
Run Setup
again and
select more
templates
and wizards.
-
If you have
the CD-ROM
version of
Microsoft
Office, copy
the
appropriate
wizard or
template you
want from
the ValuPack\Templates
folder to
the
appropriate
subfolder of
the
“templates”
folder on
your hard
drive.
-
If you have
access to
the web,
point to
Help in Word
and Click on
“Microsoft
on the Web”,
and then
click on
“Free
Stuff”.
Follow the
instructions
on the Web
page to
download the
templates or
wizards you
want.
